Course Description

In today’s workplace, AI and generative AI are becoming essential tools for productivity and better decision-making. AI & Generative AI for Business Professionals is a practical, beginner-friendly program that helps professionals understand what modern AI can (and can’t) do—and how to apply it effectively and responsibly—without heavy math or coding.

Through interactive sessions with guided hands-on exercises and real-world examples, participants learn prompt engineering, how to use leading AI tools for writing, analysis, research, and content creation, and how to identify high-impact use cases across business functions. The course also introduces agentic workflows (AI using tools to complete multi-step tasks) and key guardrails such as quality checks, privacy considerations, and responsible AI practices.

Module 1 – AI & Generative AI Foundations

  • Welcome, course overview, and learning outcomes
  • What AI vs. Generative AI is (and why it matters for business)
  • How large language models work (high-level}
  • Capabilities and limitations (accuracy, hallucinations, bias)
  • Responsible use basics: privacy, confidentiality, and safe prompting

Module 2 – Prompt Engineering for Business

  • Prompting fundamentals: instructions, context, examples, and constraints
  • Reusable prompt patterns (summarize, extract, compare, brainstorm, plan)
  • Improving output quality: iteration, critique, and verification
  • Hands-on: prompts for emails, reports, meeting notes, and proposals

Module 3 – AI Tools for Productivity (Text + Multimodal)

  • Using AI as a copilot for writing, reading, analysis, and research
  • Working with documents and data: structured outputs, tables, and checklists
  • Multimodal AI basics: text-to-image and business-friendly applications
  • Hands-on: build a personal “AI toolkit” for daily workflows

Module 4 – Use Cases & Workflow Design (Across Business Functions)

  • Finding high-impact use cases in marketing, HR, sales, operations, and finance
  • Designing AI workflows: inputs, outputs, roles, and human-in-the-loop approvals
  • Quality checks and guardrails to reduce errors and improve reliability
  • Hands-on: map 2–3 workflows from your role/industry

Module 5 – RAG & “AI on Your Documents” (Concept + Practical Examples)

  • Why grounding matters: when AI needs your internal knowledge
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) explained (non-technical)
  • Practical examples: policies, FAQs, product docs, and knowledge bases
  • Measuring usefulness: accuracy, completeness, and confidence checks

Module 6 – Agentic Workflows, Governance & Capstone

  • Agentic workflows: AI using tools to complete multi-step tasks (conceptual + examples)
  • Risk and safety: prompt injection, data leakage, and operational controls
  • Adoption playbook: selecting tools, rollout, and change management
  • Capstone workshop: build a practical AI plan and 2–3 ready-to-use workflows
  • Course recap and next steps (personal action plan)
